What this policy covers

This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and what rights you have. It applies only to this website.

We have written it to describe what the site actually does today. Where a service is not currently in use, we say so rather than listing it speculatively. When that changes, this policy will be updated and the date above revised.

Information you give us directly

Contact form

If you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, and the message you write. You must tick a consent box before the form will send.

This information is used solely to read and reply to your message. It is sent to our email inbox. It is not added to any mailing list, sold, or shared with third parties.

Our contact form runs on WPForms Lite, which does not store submissions in the website database. Your message exists only as an email in our inbox.

Retention: we keep contact emails for as long as needed to handle your enquiry, and delete them within 12 months unless there is a specific reason to keep them longer. You can ask us to delete yours sooner.

Information collected automatically

Server logs

Our hosting provider, Hostinger, keeps standard server logs that may include your IP address, browser type, and the pages requested. These are generated automatically by the web server, used for security and technical troubleshooting, and retained according to Hostinger’s own policies. We do not use them to build any profile of you.

Cookies

This website currently sets only functional cookies — the small number required for the site to work.

Consent cookies. We use Complianz to manage cookie consent. It stores your consent choice in your browser so you are not asked repeatedly. This is functional and does not track you.

WordPress cookies. WordPress sets login and session cookies. These apply only to logged-in site administrators. As a visitor, you will not receive them.

Caching. We use LiteSpeed Cache to serve pages faster. It may set technical cookies related to page delivery. It does not identify or track individual visitors.

Full technical detail is in our Cookie Policy. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the consent settings in our footer, and you can delete cookies through your browser settings at any time.

Do Not Track

This site respects the Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control browser signals. If your browser sends one, non-essential technologies will not be enabled.

What we do not currently use

To be clear about what is not happening on this site as of the date above:

  • No analytics. We do not run Google Analytics or any other visitor analytics platform. We do not measure your individual behaviour on the site.
  • No advertising. No advertising network operates on this site. No advertising cookies are set and no data is shared with advertisers.
  • No affiliate tracking. We do not currently use affiliate links or affiliate tracking cookies.
  • No email list. We do not operate a newsletter and do not collect email addresses for marketing.
  • No social media tracking. We do not embed social media pixels, tracking share buttons, or comment systems.
  • No embedded third-party content. We do not embed videos, maps, or other external media that would load third-party trackers.
  • No comments. Comments are disabled site-wide, so no commenter data is collected.
  • No third-party fonts. Our typefaces are hosted on our own server rather than loaded from Google Fonts, so visiting this site does not send your data to Google.

We intend to add analytics and advertising in future. When we do, this policy will be updated before those services go live, the consent banner will be extended to cover them, and non-essential cookies will only be set after you consent.

Third parties who process data for us

Hostinger — our web host. All site data, including the server logs described above, is stored on their infrastructure.

That is the complete list of third parties with access to data from this site.

International transfers

Our hosting infrastructure may store or process data outside your country. Where personal data is transferred out of the EEA or UK, we rely on our hosting provider’s contractual safeguards for such transfers. If you would like details of where your data is held, email us.

Pinterest

We publish links to our articles on Pinterest. If you arrive here from a Pinterest link, Pinterest may know you clicked it. That happens on Pinterest’s side, under Pinterest’s own privacy policy, not ours.

We have added a verification code to this site to confirm we own the domain. It is an identifier only and does not collect or transmit any information about you.

Legal basis for processing

For visitors in the EEA and UK, our legal bases are:

  • Consent — for the contact form, and for any non-essential cookies. You may withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legitimate interests — for basic server logs used to keep the site secure and working.

Your rights

If you are in the EEA or UK, you have the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to processing, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw consent at any time.

Visitors elsewhere may have comparable rights under local law. We apply the same standard to everyone regardless of location.

To exercise any of these, email hello@theclearhearted.com. We will respond within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm your identity before acting on a request about personal data.

If you believe we have handled your data improperly, you have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.

Children

This site is written for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, so traffic between your browser and our server is encrypted. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Links to other sites

Our articles link to other websites, including sources we cite. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices, and we would encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit.

Changes to this policy

We will update this policy when our practices change, in particular before adding analytics or advertising. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
